Regaining confidence, balance and a love of the job
When you’re in an important and demanding job, it’s easy for work to get out of control. We then often have feelings of frustration and failure. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In this very open and honest account, Sadie describes how she found new insights and took the actions that enabled her to regain confidence, balance and a love for her job.
When I first met Neil I was at a stage in my life where work was all consuming, leaving me no time for myself or my family. I was stressed and my work life balance was out of control and I could see no way of bringing my life back in order and was considering leaving a job that I had once upon a time loved. The situation I had found myself in had destroyed what self confidence I had and I felt I was letting everyone down. I felt frustrated and a failure.
Neil was never belittling and gave me the time to talk about me and the situations I found my self in and my true feelings. He was never judgemental or misleading and always supported and encouraged me to explore my thoughts. Neil was very patient and kind which gave me the confidence to speak freely and enable me to look at the situation I was in from a different perceptive.
I cannot put in words how grateful I am to Neil, who gave me so much insight and helped me see a great deal about myself and the world around me, some of which was surprising and this has given me the confidence to enable me to change the way I view the world, my self and the effects my actions can have on other people, albeit with good intentions.
My work life balance is now in control, I have started to love my job and life again. What I have learnt about myself will stay with me forever and I am now equipped with tools to ensure I never get lost again and with each passing day my confidence grows.
