Julian gets his job! Posted October 2009
You may be aware from reading these news releases that both through specific schemes and working with individual clients we are working with many people who are at various places in their journey to new work. Well this piece of good news just came in from Julian, who was wanting success in getting a senior management position, and it just wanted to be shared.
"This work has been a real life-changing experience. Just a couple of meetings have enabled me to think more positively about myself, feel self-belief and have the confidence to achieve what I wanted. The style and approach are relaxing and gentle, with no hint of pressure. It enabled me to work through at my own pace. Following these two meetings I got the job I went for. And it has given me the skills to take the lessons learnt about myself into new situations. I would recommend working with Neil to anyone"
We're just delighted you got your job Julian!
Helping leaders in difficult times Posted September 2009
Neil, Alister and Richard are using their coaching skills to support leaders whose roles are in the unfortunate position of their jobs being "at risk", or are unemployed. Between them they are providing more than 15 managers with 10 hours of coaching each. This is being made possible as part of a SEEDA funded programme delivered by the University of Surrey School of Business Coaching Faculty. Says Alister "It's wonderful to have an opportunity to support some great people who, despite considerable challenges, are turning the uncertainties in their lives into an opportunity to have a good, long look at who they are being and where they are going".

The Sustainability Pioneers - Exploring what will the business of the future might look like - Posted 26/2/9
There are three groups of people. Those that are playing the game, those that are watching the game and those that don't even know there's a game being played.”
On 20th February a wide range of businesses committed and active in Green business came together at a special event hosted by Sussex Wildlife Trust and Business Link Sussex. Focussing on the question "How do we create business success in a way that is good for people and the planet?" the event was led and facilitated by Neil Scotton. Tony Whitbread, Chief Executive of the Trust gave his view of the issues and vision of the future. And the "pioneers" entered a range of discussions that were important for each of them. It was an energising, roaring success and the group are to meet again to explore how to take this forward and make a real impact in their own businesses, and in the region, by sharing best practices, ideas and knowledge, by inspiring each other (and maybe a little competitive edge :-)).Click here for details of the event.
Business leaders in Surrey boost their mentoring skills - Posted 5/2/9
Many business leaders want to give something back to society, as well as run successful businesses. And many are supporting a Surrey Chambers of Commerce initiative that provides mentoring to students at school. The students selected might otherwise fall into the category NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training). To help the business leaders successfully support the progress and achievement of the students in the best possible way, Neil Scotton gave up his time to share skills from the world of coaching and mentoring. The session, at St Peter’s School, Guildford, on January 26 2009, was a complete success, and Surrey Chambers and Neil are now looking to expand the free offering.
Unlocking Thoughts, Passion and Intuition in the Czech Republic - Posted 30/12/08
Neil Scotton was invited to Prague to speak, share and train coaches and business leaders in "Unlocking thoughts, passion and intuition – Coaching for profound, sustainable, confident change.". The session on December 8th 2008 enabled delegates to learn more about how they can coach the ‘whole’ person. They were able to help people to discover what’s really going on inside them and enable them to understand and overcome the ‘hidden’ blocks they may have been stopping them. It's all simple ways to help people make the changes they want in ways that are natural, sensible, wise and sustainable for them, so that they can achieve higher levels of success and fulfilment. Through demonstrations, exercises and discussion Neil shared practical coaching experience and proven techniques that can immediately benefit people in their work and lives. They can now expect to learn more about themselves as they learn to apply the techniques.
Neil Scotton wins global President's Award
Neil Scotton, Managing Director of Coaching Professionals and President of the UK chapter of the International Coach Federation, has been awarded the Global President’s award for his contribution to leadership of the coaching profession in the UK and beyond. In 2007 this award was won by fellow UK coaching pioneer, Sir John Whitmore. Neil received the award from Diane Brennan, global President, in front of 1400 coaches at the ICF's international conference in Montreal.
Global President of the ICF, Diane Brennan, praised the UK’s achievements saying ‘There are many amazing people within our coaching community. One person stood out for me this year as I reflected on this award. This individual is someone I met in the fall of 2006. There were a lot of challenges facing his chapter and the way forward was not very clear. The chapter was in a survival mode. Today this chapter has experienced unprecedented success under this individual’s leadership; including:
• Engaging the leadership team and members in the process; • A clear, sharp focus on becoming self sustaining; • The consistent introduction of innovative programs; • Exceptional corporate outreach and advocacy; • Forging cooperative relationships with other coaching organizations to address issues of mutual concern; and • Marketing and public relations initiatives that support service and sustainability.
Neil exemplifies the characteristics of true global leadership and is exceptionally worthy of the ICF President's Award. Such laudable individual accomplishments are contributing in substantial measure to making professional coaching a truly integral part of society.’
